Welcome to the spring Young Adult Scavenger Hunt! Wahooo!!! Happy scavenging! You’ve got from March 29-April 3 to complete the hunt. Official rules are here:Β http://yascavengerhunt.blogspot.com/.
I’m Shonna Slayton, and I write historical fairy tales for Entangled TEEN. However, this round of YASH I have a surprise! I wrote a historical retelling of Nellie Bly’s trip around the world in the 1800s.
On my stop here you’ll find a sneak peek of CK Dawn’s second book in her Netherwalker series. You can also enter my Rafflecopter to win one of fourΒ ebook copies of my new historical novel Liz and Nellie, which doesn’t even come out until April 4th. Cutting edge prize here! Now, on with CK Dawn’s sneak peek:
“What if all you’ve ever known of King Arthur’s legend was a lie to mislead you from the truth? What if Camelot truly existed, but was destroyed to keep its secrets? And, what if there were descendants of the Knights of the Round Table defending us today from the creatures that lurk within the shadows? If the gloaming came looking for you would you answer its call?”
Cloak of Secrets (The Netherwalker Series Book Two) SNEAK PEEK
The knight absentmindedly brushed his hand down his mouth, stroking his stubble in disbelief. βIβll leave tonight,β he looked at his watch. βIβll be there.β The next part of the mostly one way conversation must have angered him. βThatβs rubbish. On whose authority?β he ground his teeth. βI see.β
Lourdieβs heart sank. Apparently Trista was upping his departure date.
βYes. I understand. Of course. And to you.β He turned away from Lourdie as he put his phone back in his pocket. Lowering his head he held onto the building for support.
βDuty calls, country boy?β Lourdie said, trying to lighten the mood. She didnβt want to say goodbye.
He punched the building and bits of mortar and brick crumbled to the ground. βJust once I wish I were that mere country boy talking to his city girl. Tell me that someday we will finish this conversation, when this is all over.β Gently this time he pressed his palm against the wall still not facing her. His knuckles were scraped, swollen, and bleeding.
βIβ¦,β she took a deep breath. βI promise we will.β Lourdie took a step toward him. She reached out to his injured hand, hoping to comfort him as he had once done for her during Abbeyβs last trial at the Cloak. βLogan, what is it? Whatβs going on? When whatβs all over?β
Temple turned around and in one fluid motion he grabbed her hand pulling her into his embrace. His hands moved possessively and wrapped around her waist making Lourdie inhale sharply. Templeβs lips fell onto hers and she surrendered to his predatory kiss. A soft moan escaped her throat making him deepen their kiss even more. His body tensed as his hands moved to her face, cupping it as though she would disappear. Lourdie covered his hands with her own, trying to reassure him that she wasnβt going anywhere, that she wasnβt going to run. But, she knew it was a kiss goodbye and he was the one leaving.
Temple grimaced in pain apparently feeling his swollen and bloody hand for the first time. βI should have done that a long time ago,β he said, pulling away and wiping his blood from Lourdieβs cheek.
βHit a brick wall?β she said breathlessly.
He smiled sadly. All his arrogant wit seemed washed away with that single phone call. βI donβt think Iβll get another chance to do that again for quite some time,β he said, brushing his uninjured thumb across her bottom lip almost as if he were trying to memorize her face.
Lourdieβs heart sank with the realization that she had been trying to ignore. Whatever was happening, he was leaving. βTalk to me,β she whispered. βWhen what is over?ββ¦

Personal Rafflecopter Giveaway
New York City, November 14, 1889. Young newspaper reporter Nellie Bly sets sail on the Augusta Victoria for a trip around the world. She plans to beat Jules Verneβs fictional record from the novel Around the World in Eighty Days.
She thinks she can circumnavigate the globe in under seventy-five days and prove that a woman can do what no man has even tried. Hours later, and unbeknownst to Nellie, another writer, Elizabeth Bisland, boards a train going in the opposite direction attempting to beat Nellie back to New York.
Elizabeth is a reluctant player in this high-stakes publicity stunt, but financial needs outweigh her pride.
Neither woman is prepared for what will happen on this trip, or how the race will change her.
*Note: Don’t be afraid of the “Invent your own” options above. I’ve created them for you, things like Add Liz and Nellie to Goodreads, Sign up for my newsletter, etc. Easy Peasy*
Next stop on the YASH tour: Jessica Hawke! Did you catch my number? It’s cleverly hidden up at the top in silver. I mention it twice, just in case you miss it the first time….and it’s in my Rafflecopter just for good measure.
If I could go anywhere, I would go Scotland and maybe tour the ruins of an old castle. Thanks for participating in the hunt!
I’d like that, too! When I was a kid I went with my family to England and the castles were my favorite part. A place for your imagination to fly.
I have always wanted to go to Scotland and learn some more about my ancestors

But if I were to travel somewhere RIGHT NOW, I would go to Portland, Oregon. More specifically, Powell’s book, the nation’s largest used bookstore.
