My son is participating in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine this weekend. He will fast for 30 hours starting Friday morning at 8:00, just before he takes his first competitive math test of the year.
I’m glad the test is in the morning instead of the afternoon when the first hint of hunger pains kick in. Isn’t it nice that we can choose when our hunger hits? Imagine life if the reverse were true–you were mostly consumed with hunger pains and only ate the occasional meal. Compassion. Empathy. Those are some of the lessons coming his way.
