Turns out when you write a book, people will want to hear you talk about it. When you are used to (and comfortable) being alone in your head with your thoughts, giving a public speech can be daunting. I’m thankful for my Toastmasters group for helping me get used to public speaking. I’ve also been reading and listening to Dale Carnegie resources. Here is a quote I found attributed to Dale Carnegie about the three speeches you give with every speech:
SHONNA SLAYTON is the author of the Fairy-tale Inheritance Series of young adult novels, beginning with Cinderella’s Dress. She edited curriculum for an education company before homeschooling her own children using literature-based whole book learning. She’s taught writing using fairy tales in school classrooms and workshops, as well as in public libraries as a writer in residence. Instead of seeing her in person, you can get the Lessons from Grimm Series which includes a writer’s guide and workbooks for writers to learn fiction techniques through fairy tales.
What I'm working on now:
Reign of the Kelpies (River Kelpies Book 2)
Phase:Writing
14.1%
River Kelpies Book 3
Phase:Outlining
17%
That’s a bit like life though, really. Hindsight is a terrible, torturous thing! Good luck with the public speaking.
PS I love your cover!
