I first saw Ukrainian or Pysanky Easter Eggs at the mall when I was probably 10 or 11. My mom said “no” to buying me the kit, so my best friend and I pooled our money and split the starter kit. We each got one kistka, the tool to draw on the eggs. We split the dyes and the black bees wax, and we photocopied the instructions.
After a couple years of using the tools, I lost them or I couldn’t find more dye or something happened that I forgot about this craft. Last year I ordered the products to teach my kids what had fascinated me so when I was their ages. Here is a video we made for you to show you how fun and easy this method of egg decorating can be. Hope you like it.
Wow..they look great! 🙂
Just popping in from the A-Z list…good luck with the rest of the challenge x
Thanks, Vikki. Some of these letters in the challenge are going to be tricky.
I think I will be having a go. Nice to connect and follow on http://aimingforapublishingdeal.blogspot.co.uk/
Thanks for visiting, Charlotte.
How fun! I popped in from the A to Z Challenge, since you were kind enough to visit me. I’ve never seen that technique on Easter eggs, although I’ve seen the results. Great video! Your book sounds fascinating as well. I’m looking forward to reading it!

Thanks for stopping by, Donna. We had a lot of fun putting the video together. And thanks for the encouraging words about my book. It’s my debut so I’m starting to get nervous!
That’s awesome! I never thought about getting a kit and doing them myself or with the kids. They’re gorgeous and the process looks fun as a group. Thanks for sharing!
Just hopping through and checking out blogs involved in the A-Z Blog Challenge!
I bought my supplies from the Polish Art Center and was happy with the service and products: http://www.polartcenter.com/Polish_Ukranian_Easter_Egg_Decorating_Supplies_s/102.htm
We used to just use felt tip pens on our hard boiled eggs, but that looks like much more fun! 🙂
I started a doodling board on pinterest….hmmm, now you have me thinking. One could make some really cool eggs with a Sharpie and some fancy doodles.
