Tackle Your TBR 2015

What did I learn about myself during this reading challenge? I have no discipline when it comes to selecting and keeping with a set list of books. I made a manageable goal to read four specific books and I could have achieved that goal had I stuck with those four books instead of adding in two others! The second week my reading time got squeezed by some extra work I needed to do for the writing-side of my life, but knowing I had committed to a reading challenge kept me reading, which helps me keep my sanity when life gets busy.

Saturday I was on a panel of writers at the Arizona English Teachers Association conference and was asked what I was currently reading. “My TBR pile!” I answered and told them about the Wishful Endings challenge.

Here is what I accomplished:

My TBR for the Challenge:

The Begotten by Lisa T. Bergren– this one is for book club, so I need to finish this before the others. FINISHED
Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson– going for this one next because it seems like a quicker read than my other picks. It has been on my TBR pile for many moons and somehow keeps landing further down the pile. p.98 of 278
A Tailor Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer–I’ve been reading this one in small snatches on my itouch and really want to sit down and finish it already! FINISHED
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith–I’m not quite halfway through this one, and seem to be reading it in spurts, and then forgetting the characters and having to refresh before moving forward. I need to get myself a cup of tea and go for it. Never started (!)
UPDATED list: Princess Academy: The Forgotten Sisters by Shannon Hale–I hadn’t intended to add another book, bu this one was in the car when I was waiting to pick up one of my kids on the first day of the challenge, and you know, when you’ve got a couple minutes to spare….so I’m counting this in my challenge. p. 151 of 324
And another: Victorian Secrets –research for the time period of my next novel (set in the late 1800s). Victorian Secrets is a memoir of a modern girl who, loving the Victorian era, writes about her first year wearing a corset. FINISHED

I was able to visit several blogs at the beginning of the challenge, and plan to go back and visit everyone’s wrap-up post to see how they all did. Fun challenge. I’m making a note to look for it again next year!
