For the Index Card a Day (ICAD 2015) challenge, I’m attempting what I did last year, but with renewed determination. I want to learn how to doodle, specifically so I can do art journaling/illustrated faith. This year, instead of completely winging it, I have a bit of a plan. With the help of some really talented artists, I’m going to learn step-by-step how to play around with paper and pen.

I’ll post my cards for the first week here, so if you want to see how I’m progressing, check back. (I apologize for the blurry images. I’m scanning them in and need to figure out how to change my printer’s resolution…) On other days, I’ll have how-to posts I’ve found online, plus a guest post here and there to round out the month. If you are participating in the ICAD challenge let me know. I’d love to see what you are doing.

There is a linky list here if you’d like to add your name and we can all keep track of each other 🙂

This week, I’m gleaning how-to’s from Erin Leigh. She has this nifty 31-Days of Scripture Art Journaling that I found on Pinterest. (And Woot! She’s going to guest post this week with some beginner tips for us.) Her day one is all about the line.

Okay, five days in, and I’m noticing the challenge is getting harder…as in I’m getting frustrated with my lack of lettering skills. I put a book on hold at the library to help with that, and I think next week I’m going to concentrate on learning different styles of lettering. I also noticed that I need to pay more attention to design–how to organize the images and words on the page. One day at a time!
